People living near an army training site in Lydd have been told to keep doors and windows closed after a large fire broke out.

Eight fire engines and support vehicles were called to the Ministry of Defence facility on Galloways Road at around 4pm on Wednesday.

A two-storey building was well alight and 50 firefighters were tackling the flames.

The fire created a huge plume of smoke and anyone living in New Romney and the surrounding area was advised not to have any windows or doors left open.
