Fire chiefs probe fatal blaze

A BLAZE which is thought to have led to the death of a 75-year-old woman is being investigated by fire officers.

Pat Barnard, who lived in a bungalow at Kent Avenue, Minster, near Sheerness, was taken to Medway Hospital suffering from burns after the incident in her lounge on Tuesday last week.

She was then transferred to the special burns unit at East Grinstead in west Sussex where she died last Thursday.

Three pumps had been called to the fire which was out by the time crews arrived.

The Mid Kent coroner has been informed and a post mortem into her death is due to be carried out tomorrow.
