Fire crews come to aid of finger trapped by gothic ring

Fire crews had to use a special cutting device to cut a ring free from a man's finger.

The man, who is believed to be in his 20's, arrived at Strood fire station at lunchtime on Tuesday after taking advice from his doctor due to the ring causing him some discomfort.

Watch manager Colin Gibbs said: "It was quite a large gothic style ring and took about 45 minutes to cut off.

"People are quite often sent to us if they need a ring cutting off and we don't discourage that from happening."
