Fire crews have been tackling a blaze which damaged several buildings at Fordwich this evening.

The alarm was raised at 4.35pm when the fire broke out at King Street.

It involved a wooden shed, outbuilding, workshop and a large area of trees that were severely damaged by fire.

The cause of the fire is not known but is believed to have intensified due to paints, thinners and creosote stored in one or more the sheds.

Crews took an hour to put the fire out and spent another 20 minutes damping down.
