FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in the grounds of the former Leybourne Grange Hospital in Birling Road, Leybourne, near West Malling, last night.

Crews from Larkfield, Strood, Swanley and Halling answered reports that a wooden building was alight at about 10.20pm.

The fire, which destroyed a derelict single storey building, was brought under control after about 45 minutes. The hospital closed in the 1990s.
