Fire service tackle roof blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called in to put out a fire on a roof in Welling.

Four pumps from Bexley and Eltham were called at around 8.05pm last night by worried neighbours.

In the end only one pump from Bexley was needed to deal with the fire, which was confined to burning rubbish on a flat top roof, in Embassy Court, off Welling High Street.

Most of the properties in the block of flats and ground floor shops are understood to be derelict.
