A MOTORIST had to be cut free from his car after colliding with a wall and several other vehicles in Chatham.
The man, who is thought to have passed out at the wheel, crashed in Horsted Way, and then into the Chatham-Maidstone Road, shortly before 5pm on Friday.
Firefighters spent about an hour cutting him free. The collision caused massive tailbacks. Motorists trying to get on to the M2 faced severe delays with queues backing all the way down to the bus station near Chatham railway station.
The injured man, believed to be a diabetic, was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital but is not thought to be seriously hurt.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews used specialist cutting equipment to rescue the man from his car.”
