WOOD fires broke out in the villages of Barming and Otham last night, due in part to the dry weather.

Up to 30 fire fighters from Maidstone, Larkfield, Borough Green, Tonbridge and Seal tackled the flames in Oaken Wood, near Barming, for three hours while another pump from Maidstone put out the fire off White Horse Lane, Otham, in about an hour.
