FIREFIGHTERS battled to control big blazes at opposite ends of the county on Tuesday evening.
In SWANSCOMBE people living close to a warehouse fire were warned to keep their windows and doors closed after asbestos containers were discovered.
Meanwhile, near DOVER flames swept through the second and third floors of a country house and erupted through the roof.
In North Kent 12 fire crews were drafted in to Manor Way Business Park, London Road, Swanscombe, after the alarm was raised shortly before 6pm.
It is believed the fire started at a recycling paper plant known as Sivyer Waste Paper, and spread to the premises of a nearby demolition firm where the asbestos was kept.
In Dover, 10 fire crews were sent to Eythorne to tackle the blaze in a detached three-storey house.
No one was thought to be hurt or trapped in either of the fires.
