A father was nearly blinded after a box of fireworks exploded in his face.

Lee George, 26, from Gravesend had a lucky escape after the container holding 50 fireworks blew up at a garden display with family and friends.

The father-of-two said: "I won't light another one again and I won't have the kids around them."

Two fireworks hit him in the head, causing a deep gash and burns to his face.

He was told by a nurse at Maidstone Hospital had he been burnt 3cm lower down, he would have lost his eye.
