A Kent fish and chip shop's distinctive landmark has been recovered after being stolen.

The 6ft advertising statue for the Yellow Fisherman at Hothfield, near Ashford was found in a bin shed with one arm missing.

The statue of a fisherman with a black beard and yellow mackintosh was taken from outside the Maidstone Road business between 2pm and 10pm on Saturday, February 21.

Around that time teenagers had seen it being taken away in the back of a white lorry. The statue was eventually found in the shed at Godfrey Walk, Ashford.

PC Chris Miller said: "It was missing an arm, which had held a fish.

"The owner was delighted to have it back and I am now appealing to anyone who may have seen the statue being transported to the area of Godfrey Walk, or saw it being dumped in the bin shed."
