Mcapples are the healthy option at one fast food outlet thanks to top-fruit grower John Collingwood.

The Benenden farmer has signed a deal to supply McDonald’s with Royal Gala apples. They will be put into their Fruit Bag along with grapes and slices of apples to help customers reach their five a day portions.

Mr Collingwood is one of several Kent farmers supplying the High Street fast food company with enough apples to fill 77,000 fruit bags sold across the country each week.

Kentish apples will feature in the bags throughout the British apple season, from October 24 to February.
