A MAN found dead following a fire in a top-floor flat in Margate last week has been named by police as 26-year-old Stephen Christopher Dillon.

Firefighters from Margate, Ramsgate and the Thanet station at Westwood were called to the blaze in Trinity Square last Wednesday night.

Fire investigators and police officers were at the scene for several hours the day after the blaze. A police spokesperson said the fire was caused by a gas leak in the kitchen.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
