KENT captain Matthew Fleming collected his third Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy man-of-the-match award after steering his side into the fourth round at Norwich yesterday.

Fleming got the Kent innings off to a blistering start with a barrage of strokeplay that reaped 56 runs from 38 balls and later went on to claim three wickets for four runs to sweep Norfolk aside by 191 runs – Kent’s second highest margin of victory in the 29-year-old competition.

"It was pretty comprehensive," said Fleming after the third round rout. "In fact, Norfolk were flattered by the fact that we bowled our spinners after the rain break just to make sure we got the game finished today – that way they scored 40 more than they might have.

"Any time you win by almost 200 runs feels pretty good and it’s been nice coming up here and playing them on a good ground and on a fantastic wicket.

"Everything fell into place well for us today, but there are areas where we can still improve. Rob Key batted well but got bogged down against Rob Newman, but everyone in the top order had a knock and got runs."

The victory will again pit Kent against Warwickshire in next month’s fourth round after they held off the challenge of Staffordshire.

"We go on about the Warwickshire one-day hoodoo but to be honest it’s only Mark Ealham and myself who remember the bad times against them," added Fleming. "If we can get a bit of a roll going now by doing well against Sussex and Nottinghamshire at Tunbridge Wells, we will have nothing to fear by the time we welcome Warwickshire back to St Lawrence."
