The agency warns: “Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, property flooding is not expected.

“Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous…”

“Flooding may apply two to four hours either side of high tide.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are prepared to respond if required.”

The alerts are among 41 issued across the country.

There are also flood warnings, which is where flooding is expected, rather than possible, covering mainly areas in the north east of England.
