The mini-heatwave caused flash flooding yesterday after a freak rain storms flooded streets.

Ten homes in Parkwood had to be pumped out by firefighters after the sunny weather was swallowed up by a storm around 4pm yesterday.

Three fire engines were called to help the homes affected in Bond Road and Lyall Way.

Crews spent more than an hour pumping the water away from the roads.

The Red Cross Victim Support Unit was also called to the scene to assist occupants along with Southern Water.

Other areas were also affected by flooding, including Canadian Avenue in Gillingham. Michelle Thompson took these photos of her road running in water.

The Met Office had issued a severe weather warning for the South East yesterday, stating a build up of humidity would spark the torrential rain and flash flooding.

The weather is expected to become cooler throughout the week and remain dry for the Diamond Jubilee weekend.
