NODDING dogs, dancing Elvis figures and fluffy dice may add to your car's personality - but how safe are they?
Windscreen repair and replacement copmay RAC Auto Windscreens is launching a campaign warning drivers that novelty car accessories can be a serious distraction.
The company's managing director, Bill Duffy, said: "The craze for all things kitsch has certainly spread into the car and we are seeing more and more drivers - especially young ones - filling their cars with novelty items.
"Whilst these accessories will certainly make the car more colourful, the danger is that the movement of these objects will cause a distraction when on the road."
RAC Auto Windscreens is appealing to drivers to consider the effect these accessories have on their vision and is calling for drivers to de-clutter their cars.
"Accessories are not only distracting," Mr Duffy adds, "but can seriously block your vision, especially larger items such as fluffy dice, which hang from the rear view mirror, and also the popular 'Baby on Board' signs which can block a large amount of the rear windscreen."
