Fire crews put on their protective suits at Folkestone police station
A suspect package is being investigated after a chemical alert at Folkestone police station.
Kent Police said a parcel brought into the front counter this morning sparked the incident.
Firefighters wearing protective full-body suits entered the police station, in Bouverie Road West, shortly before 1pm.
The three crew members were seen leaving about half an hour later.
Police said the incident has since been resolved and officers are investigating the source of the package.
The station had been cordoned off and the road closed in both directions between Castle Hill Avenue and Earls Avenue.
Emergency services, including paramedics, were called to the scene at about 10.45am.
KM Group photographer Martin Apps said earlier: "Three firefighters in chemical suits have gone into the station.
"There is a team of about four fire engines and two ambulance response units and a couple of police cars."
