Striker Kevin Lisbie insists he hasn’t ruled out a possible return to Gillingham.
The 33-year-old has been regularly linked with the Gills this season but reports on Monday suggested he has dismissed any chance of dropping down to play League 2 football.
He enjoyed a brief loan spell at Gillingham over a decade ago where he netted four goals in four starts for the club towards the end of the 1998/99 season where he played alongside current Priestfield boss Andy Hessenthaler.
The Gills boss appears to be closing in on a loan signing from the Championship, with the transfer window opening on Wednesday, but Lisbie, who is a free agent after his release from Ipswich in the summer, hasn’t ruled anything out.
Reacting to reports of snubbing the Gills, Lisbie wrote on twitter.
He said: "The recent reports that I told Sky Sports News I refuse to play in League 2 and have snubbed Gillingham are untrue.
"I started my career at Gillingham and would not rule out finishing my career there."
Lisbie spent last season on loan at Millwall in the Championship.
