Former Dartford midfielder Tyrique Hyde on this year’s Love Island

A former Kent football player will be swapping the pitch for the Love Island villa this year.

Tyrique Hyde, semi-pro football player, used to play for Dartford and will be featuring in the hit ITV show this summer.

The 23-year-old was Dartford’s former midfielder and told ITV he would be bringing “vibes, confidence, good energy and honesty” to the villa, adding that he is infact deaf in one ear.

"I don’t sit on the fence, if I have an opinion I will speak up. I’m also not afraid to go after what I want,” he told ITV.

"I’m deaf in my right ear. I’ve got a tattoo next to my left one that symbolises strength and power in my good one."

Tyrique lives in Essex and his dad Micah Hyde, is also well known in the world of football being is a one-time Premier League star who played for Watford in England's top division.

Love Island starts on ITV2 on Monday, June 5. It is on Sunday to Friday at 9pm for about an hour and on Saturday there is a highlights show from the previous week.
