Four in dock over cash-point raids

FOUR men have appeared before magistrates accused in connection with raids on two cash-points in a Kent village.

They are each charged with the burglarly and theft of two cash machines containing £135,880 from the HSBC Bank at Station Road, Birchington, last Saturday and with burglary with intent to steal at Barclays Bank in the same road on the same day.

The accused are Nathan Deakin, 32, of St Christopher’s Close, Margate, Brian Kilpatrick, 41, of Myrtle Road, Folkestone, Adrian Gowers, 43, of Wildfell Close, Chatham, and Robert Waddington, 47, of Brambletree Crescent, Rochester.

They appeared before magistrates at Canterbury. They were remanded in custody and are due to re-appear at the same court on Wednesday, July 25.
