Detectives investigating the death of 36-year-old Ted Shaxted have charged a fourth man with his murder.

Marvin Service, 33, of Brandon Street, Gravesend, was arrested in connection with the murder on Thursday.

After being charged on Friday night he was remanded in custody when he appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Mr Shaxted died in hospital on Sunday, December 16, 2007 from injuries caused when he was attacked at his home in Wallis Park, Northfleet two weeks earlier.

Three other people have been charged over his murder. They are due to stand trial at Maidstone Crown Court on January 5.

Service is next due to appear in court on December 19.
