Start spreading the news - a mini crooner from Chatham has made it through to the next round of Britain's Got Talent.

Little Frank Sinatra singalike Robbie Firmin wowed the judges on the ITV show on Saturday night, getting three yeses from Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and Louis Walsh.

Dressed in a Rat Pack-style suit and trilby hat, the seven-year-old St Thomas More pupil sang a word-perfect rendition of Sinatra's My Way. At the end of the song, Robbie received a standing ovation from the audience.

Louis said: "Robbie, I've never heard anybody so young sing that song and you did it your way!"

Comedian Michael McIntyre said: "Robbie, I thought it had everything. You toyed with the audience - they were up, they were down, they were swaying. Robbie you're a star."

Robbie auditioned for Britain's Got Talent after winning the Towns' own version of the competition, Medway Has Talent, last October.

He is now one of the bookies' favourites to win the national contest - with William Hill giving odds of 25/1.

Proud mum Lisa, of Walderslade Road, watched in the wings with Robbie's aunt Hayley Firmin and grandmother Rosie Firmin.

She said: "I'm really proud of him anyway, but when I saw him on stage something in my heart just went.

"Robbie started making noises into a microphone when he was a baby and then from 18 months to two years he started singing nursery rhymes, then he progressed onto James Blunt and Frank Sinatra.

"Robbie gets his love of Sinatra from his grandad. He practises with him almost every day."

Robbie, who wants to be a singer when he grows up, is already a star in the making. He has received dozens of messages on his Facebook site since his performance on Saturday - even one from Australia.

When asked how he remembers his lines, Robbie said: "I've got a big brain." He added: "My favourite bit about my audition was getting three yeses from the judges."
