Fraud police make arrests at airport

Five people from Kent were among seven arrested at Gatwick on suspicion of fraud.

Details of dramatic scenes at the airport were released on Tuesday.

Kent Police said officers from their serious economic crime unit, assisted by colleagues from Sussex Police, made the arrests after receiving a tip-off of the alleged fraud involving holidays booked to Jamaica paid for using compromised credit cards.

A further 38 passengers were not allowed to board their scheduled flight.

Those detained included two men from Ayelesford, aged 43 and 30, two women from Aylesford, aged 21 and 19, and a 45-year-old woman from Snodland.

A 26-year-old woman was also arrested in Aylesford in connection with the investigation.

All those arrested have been released on bail until January, pending further inquiries.
