Health chiefs have decided not to take any action over claims a senior cancer surgeon lied about his age.
NHS fraud investigators were called in after receiving anonymous allegations against Gulzar Mufti, the medical director at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.
However the NHS Counter Fraud Investigation Team has recommended that no criminal or civil action should be taken against him.
The team has discussed the affair with the General Medical Council which will also be taking no action.
A statement from Medway Maritime Foundation Trust said:“Mr Mufti provides an excellent service to the Trust and to patients and he has acted in good faith throughout.”
