Police have renewed an appeal for information after a suspicious fire at a new housing development in Margate.

More than 30 firefighters from east Kent tackled the blaze, which affected three houses and four flats at Windmill Court in Millmead Road on Wednesday, January 28.

The fire led to a large area of the town being sealed off.

No one was hurt, although the nearby King Edward VIII pub was evacuated as a precaution.

Police have discovered that several fires were started deliberately and quickly took hold.

Thanet District Council buildings officers deemed the properties unsafe and what was left had to be taken down.

House to house enquiries have been carried out and information is still being gathered into the circumstances leading up to the start of the blaze.

• Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 01843 231055 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
