Margate has gone from one extreme to the other

What a difference a week makes!

Last week, Kent had record temperatures of 29°C but today it's
more a case of wind, rain and cloud, with highs of just 16°C
expected.

Temperatures across the UK have fallen by more than 10°C and
parts of Scotland have been battered by the remains of Hurricane
Ophelia.

However, traders in Margate believe the mini heat wave did lead
to a rise in profits.

Sue, who works at the Railway Café on Margate seafront, said:
"It was hectic from the word go. From the minute we opened the door
we had crowds all the way up the ramp and it was like that all
weekend."

Meanwhile, Hayley, from the Beano Café, added: "We saw more than
twice as many people as we normally would and Saturday and Sunday
were really busy."
