GROWERS across the country are preparing for this year's National Fruit Show at the Kent County Showground at Detling, near Maidstone, later this month.

The two-day event is the showcase for the British fruit industry, with growers entering their apples, pears and soft fruit in dozens of classes to be judged alongside the nation's best.

The show is open to the public from 10am to 6pm on Wednesday, October 23, and from 10am until 5pm on Thursday, October 24. For further information telephone 01732 874564.
