Supermarkets including Aldi, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons are recalling a number of products sold in their stores amid salmonella fears.

A warning has been issued to customers to check fridges and freezers for more than 15 food items being recalled by manufacturers Bake Away.

The items are mainly raw pastry or dough products such as ready made pizza dough or ready to roll puff pastry.

Items the company produces on behalf of restaurant giant Pizza Express, designed to be sold in supermarket aisles for shoppers to cook and enjoy at home, are also among the food items being recalled over concerns they may contain the bacteria.

Food poisoning symptoms caused by salmonella, according to the warning published on the Food Standards Agency website in relation to the Bake Away products, may include a high fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.

BakeAway is recalling 16 types of dough or pastry which are all being sold in UK supermarkets. Scroll down for the full list.

Notices, it says, will be displayed in all supermarket stores and in aisles which are selling the products explaining to customers why the items are being recalled and telling them what to do if they think they may have bought any of the foods involved.

While in its alert, The Food Standards Agency says anyone who has bought any of the foods listed should not eat them and instead return them to the store they were purchased from for a full refund.
