A full military funeral takes place in Deal on Wednesday December 9 for Sgt Robert Loughran-Dickson, 33, who was killed in Afghanistan last month.
It starts at 11am at St Leonard’s Church, Rectory Road, and will be followed by a private burial.
The Rev David Flewker, rector at the Upper Deal church, said he will be conducting the service with a padre from the Army.
Sgt Loughran-Dickson was a member of the Royal Military Police and died on November 18 as a result of gunshot wounds while taking part in a routine patrol in Helmand province.
His mother Mrs Win Baker, 59, lives in Deal with her husband Alf, 77, a retired engineer. She also has two daughters, Sharron and Tracy.
Mrs Baker said the family were proud of how much Robert had achieved in his life and added that when he was home on leave he was still “a Deal lad.”
“I would like to thank everyone for their cards and messages of sympathy, also all the comments on Facebook too.”
The social networking website features tributes from many of her son’s colleagues and friends.
Sgt Robert Loughran-Dickson attended Sholden Primary followed by Deal Secondary School and had been member of Deal Air Training Corps, where he played the bugle at Remembrance Day services.
