Warm sunshine and a friendly atmosphere combined for a successful Minster Flower Show on Saturday.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was a performance by X Factor finalist, singer Ben Mills, who also opened the show.
Vice chairman of the organising committee Karen Brazil, said: “There was a great village atmosphere with people coming to Minster to meet up with friends they hadn’t seen for a while. It was good to see so many young people joining in the occasion as well as many new faces taking part in the handicraft and photography competitions.”
The event started with a fancy dress parade through the village led by the flower show princess. Miss Minster also attended and invited five other carnival courts to join in too.
Karen added: “Entries were also up for the flower show itself while the games were enjoyed by the children and the live music went down well with the mums and dads.”
Several local organisations had stalls at the show to raise much needed funds while gate money is used to finance next year’s occasion.
“We should have enough to cover that cost and have a little left over,” said Karen. “People look forward to the show all year and are already thinking about next time around.”
