THE funeral of Ray Christopher, one of Kent's best-known newspaper photographers, will take place at Thanet Crematorium, Margate, on Friday, August 26, at 3.20pm.

Relatives and friends will assemble afterwards at The Swan public house at Westgate.

Mr Christopher died following a short illness at the age of 70. He became well-known throughout the Medway Towns during his long career with the Chatham News and its sister newspaper, the Standard. He later moved to Thanet.

His exuberant personality and endless stock of jokes helped to win him many friends during more than three decades with the two papers.
