A yellow warning for snow an ice has been extended for the county and snow could start falling again tomorrow afternoon.
Weather forecasters have predicted ice and snow in the area over the next couple of days which could lead to difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport services.
The Met Office has said the cold spell is set to continue and there could be icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements across the county.
There could also be power cuts as a result of the icy weather.
The yellow warning for ice and snow is from 1pm tomorrow to 9pm on Friday. It was previously from 3pm to noon on Friday.
The next 18 to 24 hours will see cold starts to the morning generally zero to -3C.
Most of today will be fine with plenty of sunshine although cloud will develop later with isolated showers possible in places.
This evening temperatures will fall quickly with a widespread severe overnight frost.
Some places, particularly across northern parts of the county, could also see isolated freezing fog patches.
On Thursday morning the weather will be find but cold at first with temperatures possibly dipping to -4 C in places.
Isolated rain or sleet showers could affect the coast at first but should clear during the morning.
Forcasters estimate falls of 1 to 3cm of snow and possibly as much as 5cm mainly on high ground.
Some places could see as much as 5-10cm although this is more likely in higher places.
Later, heavy showers are likely along coastal areas and we could get isolated thunderstorms.
On Friday, the morning will be mainly cloudy at first and there could be further snow, a couple of centimetres in places.
