FLOWER power is needed to brighten up the Garden of England and its letdown landscapes.

Communications expert Martin Roche claims the Kentish landscape is now more reminiscent of northern France and colour is needed to attract more visitors,businesses, jobs, students, families and Government grants.

"The visitor or traveller sees an agricultural landscape not dissimilar to northern France or even, dare one say, to northern Britain," said Mr Roche, managing director of Canterbury-based Anchor Reputation Management.

"For those who carry a vision of Kent similar to that of my childhood, today's Kentish landscapes may be a bit of a letdown."

He says the answer is simple: "Let's seed our motorway verges with low-maintenance plants and flowers that will give us year round colour.

"Let's do the same with rail embankments on the high-speed line and the other key routes from London to the Kent coast."
