Singer songwriter Julie Felix is bringing her UK Highway of Diamonds tour to the Granville Theatre at Ramsgate on Saturday.
She is celebrating her 45th year as a performer and an evening of many musical moods is promised, enhanced by her rich voice and her powerful songwriting.
She has come a long way since arriving in England in 1964 from California with a duffel bag and the Mexican guitar given to her by her father.
She wasted no time in becoming the first solo folk artist to be signed to a major British record company and, one year after her arrival, the first British-based folk singer to fill London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Julie will draw on a wealth of performing experiences from all over the world and spanning five decades.
She was one of the headline artists at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival in 1969, playing on a bill which included Bob Dylan and The Who, and to an audience which included Beatles George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon.
In the 1980s, she moved back to California and took a break from the music world to study yoga, meditation and healing and set up a company arranging pilgrimages to sacred sites.
She established a “new age folk club” called the Magic Messenger to provide a platform for budding new age musicians and poets.
