Chairman George Kennedy says Kent have not received any approaches for their players.

Speculation has mounted that a possible return to the LV County Championship Division 2 next season could lead to other top names following bowler Amjad Khan out of the club.

The county’s fate was being decided this week, with anything other
than a win in their final championship match of the season against
Yorkshire at Headingley meaning relegation.

Vice-captain Martin van Jaarsveld (pictured), and player-of-the-year Darren Stevens are two targets for wealthier counties while James Tredwell’s long association could also be threatened, despite him having two years left on his contract.

Rumours around St Lawrence last week suggested Warwickshire, coached by former England spinner and Test selector Ashley Giles, could be interested.

Mr Kennedy said: "One or two have been unsettled by the situation regarding Amjad but the rest are under contract. Nobody has approached me or Jamie Clifford wanting to leave."
