Geraint Jones says switching from a four-day mindset to focusing on becoming Twenty20 champions again in the space of a few hours is part and parcel of life of being successful.
Kent had a relaxed build-up to last year’s finals at the Rose Bowl but could have only a few hours to prepare for the semi-final clash against Somerset Sabres, if the championship match at Northampton goes the distance.
Jones said: "It’s something we have to deal with and it’s the way it is these days. We want to be competing in finals like this and understand that if you are playing well, you play more cricket.
"It would have been nice to have had a bit of a rest but we are looking to arrive at Edgbaston still in a good position at the top of the Championship.
"We have had a tough programme but you can’t help but get energy from Twenty20 finals day.
"We are looking forward to it, know we have a good team and if we get through to the finals again, we have got a great chance of winning it again."
Kent will be cheered on by a big following in the Midlands and Jones believes the players enjoy the occasion just as much as the travelling supporters
"The fans do enjoy it and I don’t blame them because it’s the best day of the summer for a county cricketer."
