Gillingham come away with the ball during the reserve game against Crawley

Gillingham reserves were held to a 2-2 draw by non-league Crawley at Beechings Cross on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gills were behind at the break in the Combination League match but levelled things up with a stunning 30-yard strike from young midfielder Rashid Yussuff.

Gills 'keeper Simon Royce was beaten again soon after as Crawley took the lead but it was all square at the end after James Walker netted from the spot, after lively winger Luke Rooney was brought down in the box.

The Gills team was made up of senior and youth team players with youngsters Callum Davies and Jack Evans playing in defence, Sam Fisher and Ryan Benniman in midfield and Charlie Stimson up-front.

Gills: Royce, Payne, Gowling, Davies, Evans, Rooney, Fisher (Brown 55mins), Benniman (Rance 55mins), Yussuf, Walker, Stimson. Subs not used: Murphy, Bartrum, Brunt, Quinn.
