Andy Hessenthaler insists his Gillingham team are set to offer Bury a much sterner test than they did last time the sides met.

When they played earlier in the season, the Gills lost 5-4 in a match from which neither team came out with much credit.

Gills boss Hessenthaler has turned things around now, with his side having lost just two games in their last 15, and is in confident mood ahead of the League 2 visit of fifth-placed Bury.

Hessenthaler said: "We are a far more confident side and a better team. Earlier in the season we were indifferent, especially away from home.

"It was just a crazy game that day. Defensively both teams were poor and it was a disjointed performance. I can’t see it being the same way this weekend.

"Both teams are up there pushing for promotion and it should be an interesting afternoon.

"If we put in the same performance as we did in our last home game against Rotherham hopefully we can get the three points we want."

Andy Barcham is back in training but he may only be fit enough for a place on the bench. Matt Lawrence (groin) and Tony Sinclair (ankle).

Simon King (hamstring), Josh Gowling (ankle) and Joe Martin (cheek) are expected to return to action next weekend when the Gills travel to another team chasing promotion, Shrewsbury, in League 2.
