Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler’s reshuffle of his line-up this weekend will be dictated by injuries rather than the hammering at Accrington.
Hessenthaler wanted to ring the changes after Gills lost 7-4 at Accrington last Saturday in League 2.
But his selection for the visit of Stockport to Priestfield on Saturday will be forced upon him.
Danny Spiller (Achilles) is out for a fortnight while Josh Gowling (ill), Dennis Oli (hamstring), Curtis Weston (thigh) and Adebayo Akinfenwa (groin) are all rated at 50/50. Danny Jackman is not due to return to training until next week.
Hessenthaler said: "It’s just how it’s been going for us. It would be nice (to have a full squad) because the Accrington game wasn’t acceptable.
"We’ve got to get the right balance and get it right. We can’t turn it on and off like a tap, there’s no consistency at the moment. It’s one step forward and two back."
John Nutter will return from injury at left-back, allowing Chris Palmer to move into midfield in place of Spiller. Keeper Alan Julian and centre-back Tony Sinclair should both start and Mark Bentley is suspended after his red card at Accrington.
