Mark Stimson is ready to resume his long battle to bring Charlton striker Chris Dickson back to Priestfield as soon as the loan transfer window opens for business on Tuesday.
The need to bolster Gillingham’s options up front became even more pressing when Mark McCammon was injured against Exeter on Saturday.
The Gills boss, pictured, said: "We will try and get something sorted out between the two clubs, and hopefully we get Chris and enjoy having him for however long it is."
Stimson will also be trying to get youngsters Luis Cumbers and Andy Pugh out on loan to help the finances.
He added: "We haven’t got a lot of money to do anything. Mark’s injury has made it even more of a concern, but if it doesn’t happen then we have have got Plans B and C.
"I think there is a formation we can play with the players we have got that can release someone else up top.
"It might not be a traditional 4-4-2, but it’s something we have been thinking about trying over the last couple of weeks."
Stimson believes that McCammon could be out for between two and six weeks, depending on how serious the hamstring injury is.
"We probably won’t know how serious it is until later this week," he said.
