Loan striker Antonio German impressed with his display late on in Saturday’s draw at Aldershot.
The 21-year-old, pictured, came on to replace Deon Burton with 25 minutes left and his pace helped the Gills dominate the latter stages.
Manager Martin Allen said: “He made a great big difference and it was great to see. He made a mark on our team and I don’t mean that to discredit any of our other players, I just thought he was superb.”
It was German’s second substitute appearance since joining on a month’s loan from Brentford.
German linked up well with Danny Kedwell and Allen was pleased to see the 12-goal striker get 90 minutes. It was Kedwell’s first start in over a month, after making a recovery from a hamstring injury.
Allen said: “He played the whole game after he had been out for several weeks. That’s testament to the work he has done while he has been injured and also to our fitness people.”
