A trip to the races and a visit to The Historic Dockyard, Chatham are just some of the things Gillingham’s players can look forward to in the coming days.

Gills boss Martin Allen, pictured, said: "We are going racing soon at Fontwell with two mini-buses and that will make a nice change. That will be a good day’s training.

"We are going to the historic dockyard soon to see the submarines and boats and that will be another good day’s training. They can see a bit of history and culture and have some lunch over there."

While at the training ground Allen has been keen to keep things simple and fun.

"Generally we keep it as simple as possible," he said. "We don’t complicate it.

"There aren’t situations where you think there is a helicopter landing, because of discs and cones and bibs and people waving flags where you’ve got to start running. We keep it simple, straightforward and easy to understand."
