Gillingham have completed the signing of versatile Crystal Palace player David Wright on a one month loan.
The 32-year-old will go straight into Gills’ squad for their League 2 match with Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Wright (pictured) gives the Gills options across defence and midfield but boss Martin Allen - who was keen to recruit another striker - insists no more signings are likely.
Allen said: "He (Wright) can play in midfield or anywhere in defence and is another good
senior player with a good work ethic to add to our squad.
"There will be no more signings in the foreseeable future."
Wright began his career with Crewe where he made his debut as a 17 year-old in 1997.
After winning promotion with them he earned himself a £500,000 move to Wigan, where he stayed for three years as the team headed towards the Premier League.
A loan spell at Norwich was followed by a move to Ipswich in 2007, where he made over 100 league appearances.
He joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer in 2010, arriving as a defender, but last year he played a defensive midfield position to help stem the flow of goals going in at the wrong end.
But this season he found himself with limited first team options, making just one start so far and two appearances from the bench.
His loan will run for seven games, up to and including the home match against Aldershot on October 13.
