Martin Allen wants to study the video evidence before deciding what to do about Andy Frampton’s late dismissal against Rochdale.

The Gillingham boss has clamped down on ill-discipline this season and Frampton’s sending off was the first in a while after a flurry of red cards earlier on in the campaign.

Referee Mark Haywood gave Frampton, pictured, his marching orders as Bobby Grant went to the floor clutching his face after an altercation with the Gills player.

“I have spoken to Andrew and you couldn’t get a more honest and decent bloke than him,” said Allen directly after Tuesday’s game.

“He said he never touched him and the he just went down. I can’t really comment on it and we will have to look at it.

“Andrew is adamant he didn’t do anything. He (Grant) was holding his face but we will keep things internal and private. If there is anything to do with Andrew then that will remain between him, myself and the chairman.”

The Gills could appeal the decision if they deem the red card harsh. If no action is taken, Frampton will miss the next three games as the offence was classed as violent conduct.

Goalscorer Danny Kedwell said: "He (Frampton) is such a lovely bloke. He is a winner but he would never do anything to harm anyone. He didn’t raise his arm or his head, it was his chest and the bloke has gone down holding his face, which does get people sent off.

"It just shows how much we are in this together. If someone goes down we all go in together. He has gone in to help his team-mate but unfortunately he bloke has gone down holding his face and I feel sorry for Frammo."
