Gillingham captain Barry Fuller insists the players won’t be taking Dover lightly when they come to Priestfield on Saturday.

Two divisions separate the Gills from their non-league neighbours but Fuller is well aware of the perils of the FA Cup.

He said: "It’s probably going to be a feisty one. We know we have to be on our game and it doesn’t matter what league they are in. There are always surprises and we aren’t going to take them lightly.

"They’ve started the season well and we’ll take it as if they are a league side, not one who are a couple of leagues below us.

"It’s going to be a big derby game, it’s the FA Cup and we need to be ready for the battle."

Fuller (pictured) is keen to get the side going again in the league but appreciates that the cup could be a good distraction.

He added: "We have the opportunity to put the league behind us a bit and take our focus off it.

"It would be good maybe to take our mind off it and a good result might pick us up and start something for the following Saturday.

"Whatever happens in the game, our main priority is the following Saturday at home against Crewe. We want to get straight back on track and get three points and where we all want to be."
