Gillingham have clinched the loan signing of Manchester United’s young striker Febian Brandy.
The 20-year-old has sealed a three month loan deal with the Gills and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup game with Southend.
Gills boss Mark Stimson has been chasing the front-man for several weeks but a deal looked to have fallen through last week.
Brandy has been a regular in United’s reserve side and he has also scored twice in four apperances for England’s under-20 side.
He has enjoyed previous loan spells with Swansea and Hereford, where last season in League 1 he netted four goals. He arrives for training on Thursday morning and will be available until mid-January.
Gills boss Mark Stimson said: "It might surprise a few people for me to be looking at clubs like that. Some people don’t think I look at that level but I’ve always said we look at the highest, we want to be the best and we try and be the best.
"This kid comes with good potential and he’s a professional at Manchester United. He’s gone to Swansea and Hereford and done really well and we can’t wait to work with him. To take him for three months should be a good scoop for us."
