Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has assured fans that he is doing all he can to bring new faces to the club.
Mr Scally met with boss Mark Stimson after Saturday’s game and left with a list of names which the manager feels he needs to give his injury-ravaged side an extra lift.
Stimson is on the hunt for a left-sided midfielder as well as defensive cover and fresh options up-front.
Finances remain tight at the club but despite this Mr Scally hasn’t ruled out bringing new players in following Stimson’s plea.
He said: "The team have been very unlucky in three or four games. If we can get some of the injured players back and get one or two reinforcements in to boost the team then we can go on from here.
"At the minute we’re holding our own and playing some lovely football. We’ll win more games than we lose this season and we’re just looking at possible replacements to help the injury crisis.
"We’ll see if any of them come off. It’s a question of whether they are the right players and we can balance the books by moving players out if we have to.
"We’re working on things and we’re always trying to improve the squad but it has to be in the confines of what we can afford.
"All in all I’m very pleased with how things are going. I think Mark has been unlucky with the players who have been injured, especially Simon King, who is such a big player for us. I’ll just be looking to see if we can keep it going now.
"Even in the games we’ve lost we have played well and I don’t have any real concerns. If we were playing bad and losing I would. I’m pleased all round and the club is as steady as it can be."
