Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has credited manager Mark Stimson with giving him the football buzz back.
Last season Mr Scally (pictured right) was left "disgusted, disappointed and disenchanted" after the car he was travelling in was targeted by hooligans – he was also verbally criticised throughout the season as the Gills were relegated.
That’s all in the past now for Mr Scally, as his club attempt to bounce straight back up into League 1.
"It was a difficult year last year," he said. "We had to change the manager who brought the wrong players in.
"I’ve always had belief in Mark and he’s kept me going, he’s a great bloke to work with and he’s given me my appetite back.
"I just hated coming into work and it was a very difficult time but that’s in the past now."
Mr Scally accepts he will always have his critics but he’s glad to see that the club are winning games again.
He said: "I still get stick and someone came up to me (last) Sunday night. I just walked away and you have to ignore that.
"We do our talking on the pitch. We’ve got a team now that Mark can build around and we’ll be looking to improve that and push forward and add competition to the side."
