Gillingham may be sitting 20th in League 2 with just one win from seven but our panel of supporters are remaining positive ahead of the visit of Burton Albion on Saturday, with everyone predicting a win for the Blues.
ALEX SARSON (Wellingborough)
We should have had a point at Bradford at least. Once again we’re having to come back from a defeat, something we cannot afford to be constantly doing week in, week out if we have any real ambitions of promotion this season. We need to be beating Burton Albion this week, hopefully convincingly, with a decent performance and clean sheet for Lance Cronin, restoring confidence in our young keeper. We seem to be creating chances, but we need to put them away. Cody McDonald needs a goal, not to keep his place, but just for his confidence. Can Inkango make a 'from the bench appearance’ and be as impactful as he has been in the reserves? I hope so as we still lack a spark from time to time. A win is a must, and they know that.
Prediction: Gills 3 Burton 1
PAUL BLAKELEY (Maidstone)
Once again we’ve had an away defeat and now find ourselves with 'must win’ home games. Its like last season all over again. With players coming back from injuries we have no excuses now, this squad should be good enough to win games in this league. I’m hoping Cody Mac (left) will start to fire now he’s had a couple of games to get match fit. I think Oli and his unpredictableness would be a good asset on the right. It’d be nice to see a comprehensive victory, but its up to the players to perform and show they’re good enough to be talked about as title contenders. We’re OK at home but we need to sort out this ludicrous away situation before it drags us down. A rather optimistic 3-0 win is my vote.
Prediction: Gills 3 Burton 0
SAM LIVINGSTONE (Pangbourne)
Surely this is it. After a pathetic start Hess needs to sort it out. We have two eminently winnable home games and only a few injury problems. Our team is easily good enough on paper, but we need to get the confidence and self belief to go out and win them! I think if we don’t win this, Hess will start to come under serious scrutiny. However, I think that if we win this game it will be a great confidence booster so I will go for a 3-0 win with Akinfenwa (right) scoring twice and then Cody to get his first for the club!
Prediction: Gills 3 Burton 0
JAMES STAPLES (Greenwich)
Following last week’s defeat the pressure is back on the players and management heading into this weekend’s encounter. Burton will represent a stern test having lost only once in the league all season and the crowd may need to stay patient. Anyone expecting an easy win is likely to come away disappointed. I hope Dennis Oli is involved following his return to fitness and he could be a key player if coming off the bench in the second half. Similarly, the prospect of Bruce Inkango playing a part in the game should give the team the natural pace we’ve been lacking out on the flanks in recent games. In Shaun Harrad the opposition have a striker who’s scoring goals on a consistent basis in League 2 and will provide a stern test for whoever Hess picks at centre back.
Prediction: Gills 2 Burton 1

We’re going to Gillingham hoping to win with the way we’ve been playing recently. We’ve had two draws in our last two but the manager has done ever so well and we’ve got some players coming back from injury this weekend, although those that have been playing in their place have made up for their absence - we’ve got a good squad here. We could just maybe do with a big sharp shooter, although Shaun Harrad (left) is playing out of his skin at the moment and he is likely to be the danger man up-front. We’ve also got winger Jimmy Pillips and Lewis Young who the manager likes to bring on (off the bench). I remember last year at Priestfield, not just the away end with the scaffolding, but the way we played and only just lost 1-0. I would like to think we can win this one 2-1, although we would be happy with a draw.
Prediction: Gills 1 Burton 2
